The Invention Process of Microscope

Pulished on Jul. 23, 2020

A microscope is an optical instrument composed of a lens or a combination of several lenses and is a sign that mankind has entered the atomic age. It is mainly used to magnify tiny objects into instruments that can be seen by human eyes. Microscope: Optical microscope and electron microscope: The optical microscope was first created in 1590 by the Dutch father and son Janssen. The current optical microscope can magnify the object 1600 times, and the minimum resolution limit is 1/2 of the wavelength. The length of the Chinese microscope mechanical barrel is generally 160 mm.

The microscope is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Before it was invented, humans' conception of the world around them was limited to the naked eye or relying on hand-held lenses to help the naked eye see things.

Microscope

The microscope presents a whole new world in the human field of vision. For the first time, people have seen hundreds of "new" tiny animals and plants, as well as the internal structure of everything from the human body to plant fibers. Microscopes also help scientists discover new species and help doctors treat diseases.

The earliest microscopes were manufactured in the Netherlands at the end of the 16th century. The inventor was Zacharias Janssen, a Dutch optician, or another Dutch scientist Hans Lippershey. They made a simple microscope with two lenses, but they did not make any important observations with these instruments.

Later, two people started using microscopes in science. The first is the Italian scientist Galileo. After he observed an insect through a microscope, he described its compound eyes for the first time. The second was Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723), a Dutch linen merchant, who learned to polish lenses himself. He described for the first time many tiny plants and animals invisible to the naked eye.

In 1931, Ernst Ruska revolutionized biology by developing an electron microscope. This allows scientists to observe objects as small as one-millionth of a millimeter. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1986.
